Before examining each Rothschild individually, one figure threads through nearly every document in this analysis. Mandelson's relationship with Epstein ran from at least 2002 to 2011 — continuing well after Epstein's 2008 Florida conviction for soliciting sex from a minor. When the conviction came down, Mandelson wrote to Epstein: "I think the world of you and I feel hopeless and furious about what has happened." He called Epstein his "best pal" in a 10-page tribute in a 2003 birthday book. He advised him to use Sun Tzu's Art of War to fight back.
What the files revealed went beyond friendship. In May 2010 — the evening before EU finance ministers announced a 500-billion-euro bank bailout — Mandelson emailed Epstein: "Sources tell me 500 b euro bailout, almost complete." That is market-sensitive government intelligence, passed to a convicted sex offender, ahead of a public announcement. Separately, Mandelson reportedly lobbied the Obama administration on behalf of Epstein and Jes Staley to water down bank trading restrictions, and reportedly tried to "amend" UK policy on bankers' bonuses after Epstein lobbied him.

He stated that he first met Epstein on Martha's Vineyard in the late 1990s at the suggestion of Lynn Forester — at that time not yet married to Evelyn Rothschild (that marriage took place November 2000). Epstein arrived with Ghislaine Maxwell.
When pressed on why Lynn Forester and Epstein were no longer friends, Dershowitz invoked attorney-client privilege — meaning the answer involved something Epstein told him in a legal capacity. He would not or could not say more. That silence is itself significant.
The same deposition places Epstein at a birthday party for Lord Evelyn Rothschild — Dershowitz separately described it as Evelyn's 70th birthday, which would place it around 2001 (Evelyn born August 1931) — at which Prince Andrew was also present. Sworn testimony. Official court record.
Note: It was also Lynn Forester who, according to Ghislaine Maxwell per Nordic Times reporting, introduced Prince Andrew to Epstein. And per Dershowitz's own book, she described Epstein to him as an "interesting autodidact" — a warm endorsement that would help bring Epstein's future lawyer into his circle.
Fourteen years after the Martha's Vineyard introduction, Epstein was still actively managing information connected to Lynn Forester de Rothschild's name. In May 2010 he emailed Landon Thomas, a financial journalist at the New York Times, with a tip to pass to two specific NYT reporters covering the arrest of financial advisor Ken Starr.
What the reporters missed, Epstein told Thomas, was that Starr had been arrested alongside Andrew Stein — Lynn's ex-husband — and that Stein was her co-director at Firstmark Holdings. He also flagged that convicted fraudster Conrad Black was a director there too. The tone is casual and familiar. This is not a cold tip. This is an established media back-channel being used to selectively control what gets reported about people in his orbit.

Desmond Shum · Red Roulette AuthorDesmond Shum — author of Red Roulette, the New York Times bestseller CNN called "the book China doesn't want you to read" — was a billionaire dealmaker with documented, direct ties to the CCP's inner circle. He and his then-wife Whitney Duan built their fortune through connections to the wife of Premier Wen Jiabao. His ex-wife was secretly detained in 2017 on orders believed to involve Wang Qishan and disappeared for four years. This is not a casual operator.
In February 2010, Shum was reporting to Peter Mandelson — serving at the time as UK Business Secretary — that he was in active negotiations to become a Limited Partner in Alex Rothschild's China fund, inclining toward running it full time. The goal: help Rothschild "leverage their platform to do a lot more things with China."
On the same day Shum updated Mandelson on the Alex Rothschild negotiations, Mandelson arranged an introduction to someone referred to only as "Jeffrey." Shum confirmed: "I am seeing Jeffrey today 3pm. Thanks for hooking us up." Mandelson described Jeffrey as: a mover of markets, very plugged into JPMorgan, operates in science and academia, had been through "a tough time in his private life." Epstein had completed his Florida sex offender sentence one year prior, in 2009.
Mandelson was introducing a CCP-connected Chinese dealmaker to what reads as Epstein — on the same day that dealmaker was negotiating entry into an Alex Rothschild fund. All of it was in Epstein's files.

His entire private pre-IPO capital raise — including his JPMorgan banker, China marketing strategy, and political contact — was sitting in Epstein's personal files.

Nathaniel coordinated the Chairman appointment with Staley — targeting Lord Robin Renwick, former British ambassador and JPMorgan vice chairman — finalizing it before his China trip. He then forwarded the entire private chain to Peter Mandelson, UK Business Secretary at the time. Mandelson's two-word reply — "interesting, protect" — is a sitting government minister flagging that sensitive, undisclosed financial intelligence about a major capital raise should stay quiet. The entire correspondence ended up in Epstein's personal files.
Separately: Jes Staley, Rothschild's JPMorgan banker in this document, is the same figure named in a December 2019 DOJ internal memo — reported by The Guardian in February 2026 — alleging that Epstein directed a woman to give Staley a massage at his New York residence, after which Staley allegedly raped her. Staley's signature also appears on Epstein Trust documents as late as 2015, directly contradicting his sworn court testimony that he turned down any trustee role.

He asks directly: are you prohibited from involvement? Ruemmler replies: "No -- no prohibition."
- September 2, 2014 · EFTA02351222 One week later, Epstein tells Ruemmler that Ariane Rothschild will be with him on the 10th and 11th. He invites her to come meet Ariane and "play." Ruemmler confirms the 11th works. Epstein has brokered a direct meeting between a Rothschild banking CEO and the former White House Counsel — through his own arrangement.

This is Epstein operating as a back-channel broker between one of Europe's most powerful private banks — under active US federal scrutiny — and a former senior official of the Obama administration. All of it happening years after his conviction, while he was a registered sex offender. In February 2016, he wrote to Peter Thiel: "As you probably know I represent the Rothschilds." He described a bank with $160 billion under management and "the world's best client list" but "prehistoric products" — and said he was hoping to find a way to move it into tech. Ruemmler was the proposed vehicle.

Jacob walked into that meeting with Staley fully briefed on the anatomy of a division being quietly dismantled. That meeting preparation ended up in Epstein's files. Jes Staley — Nathaniel Rothschild's JPMorgan banker in 2010 — was six years later meeting privately with the Rothschild patriarch at the top of Barclays, and Epstein had the briefing document.
